Bath Independant Guest House Association

Bath Independant Guest House Association

Website design

We took over the BIGHA website a few years ago, and since then have been working hard to make the site useful to users and valuable to members. We've created a small web app that allows the individual guest houses to update their accommodation, so that visitors to the site can search for late available rooms. At present it's only a fortnight in advance, but it's been a great success, and we plan to roll out a more fully featured version of the app soon.

We've also been busy behind the scenes, adding more functions to the member's area, the most recent being a forum. Ongoing work includes the development and refinement of BIGHA's accommodation portal and the member site.

The National Osteoporosis Society and EBC Education Ltd had written an educational information pack called 'Building Stronger Bones' for use in schools throughout the UK, they needed us to design the pack and it's contents.

We were provided with the text for the information pack along with images of the characters used to illustrate the issues raised. We created a fun and colourful range of pages that would appeal to the target audience as well as conveying the message of healthy bones. The pack contained a variety of elements including; a large wall poster, teacher's notes, a game and a folder to contain all the information.

The Key

The Key

Digital design

The Key team came to us requiring an interactive CD-Rom to aid with the training of children and young people, it also needed to have a variety of worksheets that could be downloaded and printed out when required.

We created a simple-to-use CD-Rom that was split into relevant sections and a simple menu system allowing the user easy navigation. Each page included a link allowing the user to download that section as a pdf to their desktop. The CD-Rom also inlcuded other resources such as powerpoint templates, images, and a video.

They were so happy with the finished product that they came back to us a year later and we created The Key 2 which has a proved to be a great addition to the original resource, watch this space for The Key 3.

King Bladud's Pigs

King Bladud's Pigs

Print design

King Bladud's Pigs was a public art event that took over the streets of Bath in the summer of 2008 to raise money for the Sustrans supported Two Tunnels Project. We were asked to join the team to design several of the print publications for the event.

We had great fun putting together several print-based publications for this event, they included flyers, maps, tickets, brochures and even the offical King Bladud's Pigs book. We created a classy and minimal style for the artwork, as the bright and colourful pigs did the talking for themselves, and created some great souvenirs to remember the project by. It was great to be involved in a public event that captured the imagination of the city and was all the name of a great cause.

We were approached by The Blue Cross, a leading animal charity, who had been working in partnership with EBC Education to create a learning resource for primary school children throughout the UK edcucating them on the task of looking after a pet. They asked us to design and build the interface for the resource which would then be included within the education section of the Blue Cross website.

We created a fun and friendly Flash-based interface that contained a range of interactive games and tasks. We used bright colours and cartoon illustrations to keep things visually stimulating whilst also trying to bring home the intended messages behind tasks. The resource included drag and drop games, rollover reveal games and videos, and also had simple navigation and menus screens to allow teachers to quickly skip between slides and presentations.
